Last night, Lateline headlined their program on the future of the coal industry in Australia - where I was interviewed. Go here to access the story and video. I was really happy that both Margot ONeill (producer) and Tony Jones referred to my analysis in Chapter 8 of CIR ‘Breaking our Coal Addiction’ which shows that the coal industry only invest 0.3% of their revenue into developing clean coal technology. Other industries (like car-manufacturing, IT, or pharamceuticals) invest 7-14% into research innovation. There has been a conspicuous absence of news coming from COAL21 (the group formed way back in 2003) aside from a new slick website called NewGenCoal - which I hope can inform us of the industries rapid plans to commercialise such technology. We still wait unfortunately!

Had a debate over the economy versus the environment with Greg Evans from the Australian Industry Group. The podcast is here - enjoy the heat!
On Friday, Bush National broadcast an extensive interview about the CIR. The details are shown at ABC radio National and you can listen to it here.
Thanks Ron for the link!
Marc and I had a long chat about all different topics from climate science, carbon obesity to the vulnerability of Australia’s coal exports. It was great to have an interview which was filtered, edited and cut down to be a 30-second grab. Marc allows a discussion of the issues and it was my favorite interview to date. We were having such a good time, I didn’t realise that we were going for 30 minutes or so! Listen to the podcast.
Marc and I talked about Earth Hour, the climate science and he gave a
wonderful plug for the book! Thanks Marc. Listen to the podcast.
