Had a very enjoyable Mosman readers book talk last night in the Mosman library. Despite my attempts, it seems no-one from the ‘flat earth’ climate change denial community turned up. The whole point of the book however is to not debate the science – IT IS IRRELEVANT nowadays – the global energy economy is moving to a clean, low carbon future. Remember the stats on global new investment in renewables vs the old fossil fuel during 2008 – the low carbon shift is on in a big way and for Australia to deny it is going to cause us great economic damage.
I must say though I have had some fervent climate change denialist’s switch sides after some talks – not in terms of the science (that is irrelevant remember) – but because of the economic imperative for Australia to decarbonise. That has been the most fulfilling part of the books national tour.
