ABC Lateline Interview

Last night, Lateline headlined their program on the future of the coal industry in Australia – where I was interviewed.  Go here to access the story and video. I was really happy that both Margot ONeill (producer) and Tony Jones referred to my analysis in Chapter 8 of CIR ‘Breaking our Coal Addiction’ which shows that the coal industry only invest 0.3% of their revenue into developing clean coal technology.  Other industries (like car-manufacturing, IT, or pharamceuticals) invest 7-14% into research innovation.  There has been a conspicuous absence of news coming from COAL21 (the group formed way back in 2003) aside from a new slick website called NewGenCoal – which I hope can inform us of the industries rapid plans to commercialise such technology.  We still wait unfortunately!

Melbourne Book Launch last night

Had a wonderful intimate evening last night with Prof Peter Doherty, who launched the book in Melbourne.  After the formalities of the speeches, the night tuned into a wide discussion with the audience asking questions and turning the evening into an open forum on climate change and the CIR.  It was filmed and will post the video soon.

Business Spectator Review/Commentary

Giles Parkinson from the Australian newspaper business pages has written a nice piece in Business Spectator on the CIR in relation to opposition ETS spokesperson Andrew Robb archaic thinking at an ETS conference last week.
